The webinar ESA's space exploration missions took place in the Scientix online meeting room on 2nd of February 2017 at 11:00 CET, Brussels time.
This webinar takes the participants on a unique tour around ESA’s Space Technology and Research Center (ESTEC). During the webinar, they learnt about past, current and future ESA’s space missions, which tests have to be performed before instruments are placed onboard spacecraft and go to space and what trainings astronauts take. Participants took a virtual step on surface of the Moon and Mars where humans work in cooperation with robots. Moreover, they found out about ESA’s space footprint and research heritage for future generations of space explorers.
The webinar was held by James Carpenter who works at the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Netherlands. He is a Project Scientist working as part of a team developing missions to the Moon. He is responsible for all of the scientific experiments that these missions will perform and defining the scientific requirements that must be addressed by the engineered systems. This webinar was unique - this time teachers were invited to participate together with their students! It was a great opportunity for teachers to make their lessons interactive and interesting.
